A Surprise Party

Right here goes. Saturday night 13th july 2013 – a surprise disco for  Debbie!

I had a great time after a bad start. It was held at Lochter Activities Centre and it all started as normal; set equipment, sound check, lights check. Yep all looks good, sounds good. I brought along the small light show, one t bar two acrobats (martin), one Wizard and two gobo, all dmx.

I to the manager “not as much as I can put up but looks great with the smoke machine, it’s all great”.

The manager left me to it and I was happy.

“Hhmm, perhaps I could lift that light bar just a bit higher…”

At this point I should have re-thought but no, I just had to do it. I lifted the bar right out of the tripod legs and the weight did the rest. T bar, lights, wires all fell to the floor over my shoulder – the noise was bad, the silence after was worse. Did I dare look over my shoulder at the carnage!?

Most party goers were unaware – phew!! But there it was. Not sure where the twisted mess ended and the wires began. Keep head up… Lap top was still fine, mixer nearly fine. I had a new set delivered to me and bit by bit put it back together in-between heart attacks, dripping sweat and playing music.

That said it was great from there on. Many thanks to the wonderful Katie for booking me and to everybody there that night, and most of all our birthday girl for a fantastic night.

The moral to the tale is, IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT.

PS thanks to the staff at lochter you were excellent.
